If this was an old man, you'd probably think he was over his head, and over his death. He was a kid. But this was a man, and he was still alive.

The writer of this article is an avid reader of my columns, so I'm very much in his debt for being such a good friend. In fact, if I were to give him a medal for his services, he'd probably be the highest-ranking Army officer ever, because that's what he is.

I had this dream once where a giant, black man who was about 6'4" made a grand entrance into my apartment building. "Look, baby, we need to talk." He said. I'm 6'4", so he was 5'11", and he was just about a foot taller than I was, and he was wearing a dark suit and a tie, and he had his jacket cinched at the bottom so he could fit in perfectly with the window in the elevator. He said, "There are a lot of people in here, and we all want the same thing in our lives: to be free." He went on to tell me how he had worked as a bartender in his 20s and was doing good for himself. "And then I was in a military prison," he said. "And I saw the same thing in other people — the same sense of freedom that you see when you look into the eyes of another person. I couldn't get my head around it. There's a power to the powerlessness that comes with being in prison." I said to myself, "What are the odds?" That's not how I'd imagined going to the movies, let alone meeting a man in a military prison. But there we were. I went over to meet this guy and his wife, who worked at a nursing home in downtown San Jose. They were pretty nice, but I was pretty sure that my mind was going to explode any minute. I told them, "We've been friends for five years. We've had our ups and downs, and I've been looking forward to seeing you for a while. This is really important to us. We're in love, and we want to do this. What do you say?" They looked at me like I was crazy. They said, "Yes, it is important to us. We can't just forget. It would be like going back in time, we need to show the world how we feel." "It would be like dating a member of the Kardashian family. I think that's a terrible analogy." "We're the Kardashians, and this is who we are." "No it isn't, we're not the Kardashians. We're just our mom and dad. We're your real family. No one is really your dad or mom, except us." "If we're dating the Kardashians, what's wrong with us? It's not like we're going to get married and we'll be the best parents ever!" "It's not the reality. We're just trying to get away from everything we have to go through. I think there are things that we have in common that we have that makes us special." "I'm a big fan of the Kardashians, but I'd rather date an actual person." "I'm a little biased, as I'm both of them. We both have a little bit of the crazy side of themselves. We're both single parents and we're both very proud of it, which is why I think we're both such a good match. I know she has the attitude about what we want and the way we want things, which I think is great. I think she is a very intelligent person, and I think she's really great at cooking and making a life for herself."

"We both have different interests, but the thing that is unique is that we both have very similar personalities. We both love our families and we both love our friends. That's what makes us different. We both have the same passion for what we do. If you want to date a man who is both of those things, then that's the kind of guy we're talking about."

"I just wish she'd show me more of the other side. I don't think we could be friends if we didn't share the same values."

So now, in this video I've compiled from the best of my memory and from the memories of many others, what is my take on the women I know who are military spouses? I'm going to start with some examples of how I've seen the military spouse interact with her partner in the civilian world, as well as the relationships I've experienced with military spouse relationships in the military. Then, I'll talk about some of the things that military spouses have shared that are more common in civilian relationships, and what this means for military spouses. It's important to understand that many people who get married do so for reasons that don't involve the military. However, the military spouse who has an intimate relationship with their military partner may have a special bond that will be very hard to find elsewhere. It will take more than just looking to find the "right" woman to be in a military relationship with. If you think you can find that one woman who is perfect for you, try finding some other ones.
