Lafayette also hosts the Louisiana National Guard's Cadet Corps, an elite youth-oriented corps of young people. They train with their own cadre of cadets and the National Guard on a regular basis.
As with any service or group of people, the Lafayette National Guard is different in many ways. It's not really a service. It's a military organization. It's a state-of-the-art training facility. It has its own cadets, but those cadets are also thailand cupid dating part of a national group of young men chatroom irani and women who are preparing for their future in the United States. But the cadets are not part of a regular military, and don't serve a traditional military career. They're also not members of the Lafayette area's civilian police force. In fact, the military's presence in prison pen pals georgia Lafayette has been mostly limited to two small cadet training bases. But now, after the national guard had its biggest recruit in Lafayette in years, an elite group of volunteers has been called upon to fill the void. The group of volunteers will train and deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan to train troops to become national guard veterans. They'll tattooed guys be called upon by Louisiana and other states to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq, and in other hot spots such as Haiti. And if all goes according to plan, it won't be a long time before they're the leaders of their own state.
In the coming days, I'll take a look at the new recruits and what they'll be training to do on their way to combat in the Middle East. In the meantime, here's a story from a Lafayette reporter that tells how the new national guard recruits have come together to help the state's citizens. It's an excerpt from the June 24th, 2003 edition of The Times-Picayune.
I couldn't get a copy of the article until now, but I've included it here. We've been hearing a lot about the state National Guard recruiting in recent days. A couple of local reporters are asking about it. Here's a news article about their inquiry. There have been reports of a group of recruits coming to the Louisiana National Guard's Fort Benning, Ga., training facility, which is about 100 miles from where they'll be serving in Kuwait. The recruits will have to live out their military service in Georgia. There have been reports that two of the soldiers are women. We have no proof they're women. They may be military wives or wives of military members. We don't know. This is a very common practice in the United States. What is more, we see the National Guard use recruits from other states for their service. The recruits are then sent to Louisiana in order to be transferred back to their home state and to enlist. In fact, one of the soldiers is said to have been transferred to Louisiana and was placed in the National Guard for an unknown amount of time. Why are there so many recruiters from other states?
They are there because the national guard has more manpower than they are able to recruit. This is why we have so many different recruiters and why the recruitment process is so quick. I know for a fact that most of the state recruits that are going to Louisiana are there for the training. When having a boyfriend in the army the recruits return home, they usually come with a bunch of friends. They also come with their parents to get their kids started off on the right foot. This is all done with a lot of secrecy. It doesn't help to be out in the open , either, or it gets embarrassing. When I talk to the recruiters and recruiters' wives in other states and there are a lot of them, I get the feeling that they would like nothing more than to keep the recruiters and their wives from having any kind of trouble. They don't want any problems. They want their kids to be prepared, ready to go, and ready to be an asset to their families. When they talk to recruits back home, they tend to be a little more guarded. They say that they have been in the military their entire lives, and they know how to handle people. I don't know, maybe the military is an easy place to be a child molester? "When you grow up a child molester, you will do a lot of things to people that you shouldn't do, and sometimes you won't be able to control yourself." ~ Major General Paul E. Vallely, Commander of the Army's Criminal Investigation Command, 2007 The first time I saw a photograph of a teenage girl in my neighborhood, I was struck by her looks. I had been watching the news that afternoon and had seen the photos on the Internet. There were two photos. One showed her naked, sitting in a car. The other showed her in a very sexual way.
